Currie Street will be a little busier with 200 employees coming to town. by Cameron Outridge Nambour is set for a major economic boost with a large tenancy expected to bring about 200 employees to the CBD in coming months. “We have some really good news regarding new tenants coming into Nambour CBD,” said I am Nambour’s Rhonda Billett at the recent (July 3) Nambour Chamber of Commerce Coffee Catchup at Frankies Cafe.  “Next to the Fred Murray council building, a State Government department will be moving in, adding about 200 employees to Nambour daily. So, all of a sudden, we’ve got another 200 pairs of feet on the street in town.” These developments are significant for Nambour, a town that has faced some employment challenges since the closure of the sugar mill in 2003, the relocation of hundreds of Sunshine Coast Council staff from the Eddie De Vere Building to City Hall, and the departure of the Sunshine Coast University presence. Hottest 100: the suburbs to watch in 2023

The inaugural realestate.com.au Hot 100 has been released, identifying the top 100 suburbs across Australia including three on the Sunshine Coast. Bli Bli, Nambour and Sippy Downs were among 24 Queensland suburbs nominated based on various mid- and long-term growth drivers including: The exhaustive list is compiled from the insights of a panel of industry experts including the head of a major agency group, buyer’s agents, researchers, and an academic – and complemented by PropTrack data and economic analysis. PropTrack economist Anne Flaherty says a number of trends were evident when examining the Hot 100 list. “Many suburbs were selected based on their affordability, which is a key concern of some buyers currently active in the market,” Ms Flaherty says. “Livability was another key driver of selection. Not just child’s play: Nambour studio offers safe space to create

A Nambour pottery studio is gaining popularity as a “gym for your mental health” with its therapeutic space perfect for those looking for a social, creative or personal outlet. The Pottery Studio began four years ago after owner Rod Constantinides realised there was nowhere for him to enjoy pottery as a hobby. General manager Gaby Sheridan says the studio was initially set up for the region’s younger residents, but all ages are loving what is on offer. “The Sunshine Coast needed something for young people to do that was a bit different and not just going out for dinner,” she says. The studio offers a range of classes including social clay and wine or coffee sessions, school holiday workshops and longer courses for those who want to do wheel throwing and sculpture making. Ms Sheridan says the business directive is growing towards providing an outlet for people’s mental health through the creative process. “For us, pottery is so tactile and grounding; it’s really therapeutic,” she says. “We really try to focus on the mental health and the therapeutic side of the process.
