Waves of visitors set to slide into Nambour’s Splash Park 

The Sunshine Coast’s newest community water park is set to attract even more visitors to the region’s hinterland heart. Sunshine Coast Council will officially open the vibrant $3.26 million Nambour Aquatic Centre Splash Park on Friday 16 September, boasting more than 580 square metres of healthy and active water play for people of all ages and abilities. The complete Splash Park features a zero-depth and fully accessible splash pad along with toddler slides, water jet features and tipping buckets, two new adventure water slides measuring 60 and 67 metres in length, new landscaping, shade sails, and 44 additional car parking spaces for pool patrons. The new adventure water slides will officially open to the community from Saturday 17 September. The pool and zero-depth splash pad are open as normal now. ‘Food Trucks Friday Fest’ planned for Nambour Town Square

A group of Nambour’s community leaders, pictured, is working with Council to organise a September markets event featuring food trucks and musical entertainment around Lowe Street and the Town Square.  It’s all part of a plan by the team, convened by local businesswoman and Tramco Director Rhonda Billett, to activate and energise the CBD and to raise money for further events promoting Nambour and “activating” spaces in town.  The “Food Truck Friday Fest” will happen monthly, with the first planned for September 9  from 4pm to 8pm near the intersections of Lowe, Short and Queen Streets.  Food Truck Fridays will alternate with the already-established and successful ‘Nambour Forecourt Live!’ events on Friday nights.   “Our Nambour community groups met again recently and identified the Nambour Lowe Street precinct as a space in the community that needs some attention and activation,” said Rhonda. “Fun times and loads of smiles are what’s in store for this area of Nambour. “The bright

Nambour plots course for vibrant future

Rhonda Billett: “The future of Nambour is going to be full of vibrancy for our and future generations to enjoy long into the future.”  After 23 years in business and painstaking campaigning to bring a new lease of life to Nambour, local businesswoman Rhonda Billett is filled with optimism about the direction the town is taking.  The owner of Uptown Hair Studio and Tram Co Director has been working behind the scenes for the past three months to help bring four organisations to the table for monthly meetings with Sunshine Coast Council aimed at growing the local economy.    Ms Billett said Nambour Chamber of Commerce, Reimagine Nambour, Tram Co and Nambour Retailers Group were working alongside Div 10 Cr David Law, Mayor Mark Jamieson and key council staff. The aim is to help ensure everything they do aligns with Council’s  vision for Nambour with a particular focus on the Nambour CBD revitalisation.
