Girl Band Night

Friday 2 May Nambour’s favourite underground venue is going all out for Girl Band Night—a one-night-only celebration of fierce, female-led acts shaking up the alt, punk, pop and rock scenes. The night kicks off with DJ Mish Mash spinning a nostalgic mix of throwback anthems to get the dancefloor humming. Then, make some noise for Hyena Smyle—a brand-new Sunshine Coast trio serving up punk-tinged alt-rock and infectious energy in their debut live show. Veratie hits next, bringing their genre-bending mix of alt-rock, nu-metal and synth-heavy soundscapes. Led by powerhouse vocalist Sarah, their set blends raw melodic vocals with rap, grit and grinding rhythm. Already sharing stages with Redhook, Devilskin and The Halo Effect, this band is ready to erupt. Local legends Pussy Jane follow up with glitter-punk chaos, sequins, keytar riffs and tongue-in-cheek glamour. They don’t just play music—they throw a full-blown glitter bomb party, and everyone’s invited. Capping off the chaos is Central Queensland juggernauts Viper Snatch. Fusing punk, grunge, folk and fire, they’ll leave you reeling with their sharp-tongued anthems and stage presence that hits like a thunderclap. DJ Sista C closes the night with retro bangers and big dancefloor energy, so save some sweat for the final set. […]

Phantom Femme Fatale + BERSERK (double feature)

Saturday 3 May Join us for this double feature of Phantom Femme Fatale and BESERK — exclusive to Horizon 2025. Phantom Femme Fatale A haunting performance-art-dance piece built around a hard-edged, and vampiric subversive, character who transgresses female subjugation with assassin-like stoicism. Choreographed and performed by Jenni Large, and defiantly exploiting physical prowess, this show pays homage to stigmatised displays of femininity – remixing movement, costume and sound in a confronting exposé of sex, horror and stigma. Not to be dismissed as a sexist figure of male fantasy, this show straddles the entanglement of sex and power with jaw-clenching effort and sly innuendo. BERSERK BERSERK is a movement-based performance inviting audiences to witness human bodies being pushed to the edge of transformation, shapeshifting and traversing surreal terrains, and embodying the primal and the absurd. Choreographed by Jag Popham, and brought to life by a dynamic ensemble, BERSERK delves deep into the mysterious forces that shape our shared mythology and somatic landscapes. With visceral movement, a pulsing soundscape, and ritualistic intensity, this is a celebration of the primordial forces that shape and consume us. This Australian premiere, by KIN, drags performers and audiences through shared threshold experiences, where time warps, thoughts fray, and focus sharpens. As agitation builds, rupture […]

Hold Me Closer Tony Danza

Thursday 8 May Hold Me Closer Tony Danza – The Farm Hold Me Closer Tony Danza is bold, brash, and non-conforming dance-theatre work that – just like a pop song that you can’t get out of your head – is also deeply seductive. Reflecting a modern minefield of potential misrepresentations, ‘Tony’ confronts our awkward reality of responsibility through a choreography of discomfort, lack of coordination, inappropriate dynamics, and Elton John. The work asks the audience to pick a side, show their true colours, and get ready to dance-off as if their lives depend on it. In a world driven by information overload, Hold Me Closer Tony Danza asks how we can still connect with each other when we feel so far apart. This is a work about misunderstanding, and embracing it – it’s a realisation that perhaps our understanding of the world is intrinsically flawed. — Please note This performance is presented in a Black Box theatre and involves elements of performance, visual, audio and interactivity with dialogue in English. Audience members will be standing, with some seating available. Seating is not allocated. Limited refreshments are available as part of this event. The performance contains strobe lighting, partial nudity and smoke machines.
