Author Pitching

Friday – Sunday

This session is your chance to pitch your unpublished manuscript to a literary agent or publisher! Agents and publishers are always on the lookout for new and exciting voices, so here’s your chance to show them yours in a succinct 5-minute pitch.

You must be available to pitch in-person in Maleny at the time allocated to you for your session, which may take place between Friday 11 October through to Sunday 13 October. Please advise if you are not available on any of these days. Your pitch will be timed so please keep it to the 5-minute limit. A further 5 minutes will be allocated for questions from the agent/publisher.

Please submit an Expression of Interest to reading@rosettabooks.com.au and include only the following information as a single Word file. Use the subject line SCHWF Pitch EOI.

  • Name and Contact Information
  • Title
  • Genre
  • Comparable Titles
  • Target Market
  • Current Word Count
  • Elevator Pitch (50 words max)
  • Synopsis (250 words max)
  • Author Bio (100 words max)

Submissions are due by midnight Sunday 16 September 2024. If successful, you will be notified by Monday 24 September of your allocated time and agent/publisher and sent a link to purchase a ticket for $30.

Our participating literary agents/publishers are:

Samuel Bernard (in-person)

Zeitgeist Agency are interested in literary fiction, commercial fiction, crime, historical fiction, rom-com, romantasy, memoir, and narrative non-fiction.

Sophie Hamley (in-person)

Hachette are interested in fiction, non-fiction and children’s and YA books from writers who are residents of Australia or New Zealand.

Sarah Williams (via Zoom)

Serenade Publishing are interested in commercial fiction, romance, fantasy, cozy mysteries, historical fiction, thriller and crime.
