UMBRA OPUS EDIT – Ramp Space Takeover
Saturday 30 November
The Old Ambulance Station is proud to present Umbra Opus – Edit.
Edit has been our Takeover artist in residence in the Ramp space for November.
Throughout November, Edit has been collating, writing, and producing the final touches of his debut album, Umbra Opus. It is part recorded improv, part deeply explorative writing—shadow work.
Simultaneously, he has been facilitating freestyle rap workshops for the Sunshine Coast youth, who, along with some friends, will join him on stage at the event for some improvised rapping and performance.
He hopes to give Hip-Hop back a fraction of the connection, confidence, and sense of community it has given him over the years. Each one teach one.
All of this will culminate and be celebrated in an early evening of dope freestyle and cypher energy, followed by a later event of deep sharing and moody rap music.
Two events. Separate but linked, one night.
5.30 – 6.30 – Youth
6.30-6.45 – Interval
After the interval
Some poetry and, finally, the launch and first performance of Umbra Opus will set a more sombre tone. The album deals with some pretty heavy themes, but always with a tender heart and a sharp wit. We hope to see you there for this sharing of words, connection, and healing. Let’s work the shadows.
This initiative was supported through the Creative Industries Investment Program and is jointly funded by Sunshine Coast Council’s Arts and Heritage Levy and the Regional Arts Development Fund, in partnership with the Queensland Government.
