Thursday 10 October FREE EVENT “The Songrise” is an Open Mic hosted by Jay Bishoff, the creator of Peregian Originals, once a month on a Thursday at The Presynct Venue & Bar in Nambour. He is often accompanied by a special guest artist. Jay supports artists in a safe environment to showcase their original songs or to play songs that are dear to them. Come and join us for a cocktail or mocktail, or a nice cold beer and see what amazing talent we have here on the coast! Register here to perform, only 10 performing spots available, two songs each. If all spots are taken, you can also register for a cancellation spot. Only ONE spot per name. Multiple spots in the same name will not be recognized. Please include your email address and phone number so that we can contact you. There will be a couple of spontaneous performance slots each night. If you don't get a chance to pre-register, you are welcome to try your luck on the night! Non- performing patrons do not need to register for a ticket as it is free entry. Doors open at 6pm for Happy Hour. Free entry, live music starts at 7pm till approx 10:30pm. Under 18's welcome to attend or perform if accompanied by their responsible guardian.

Agents and publishers are always on the lookout for new and exciting voices, so here’s your chance to show them yours in a succinct 5-minute pitch. You must be available to pitch in-person in Maleny at the time allocated to you for your session, which may take place between Friday 11 October through to Sunday 13 October. Please advise if you are not available on any of these days. Your pitch will be timed so please keep it to the 5-minute limit. A further 5 minutes will be allocated for questions from the agent/publisher.   Author BIO's Stacey McEwan is the best-selling author of the Glacian Trilogy. Her debut fantasy romance novel - Ledge, has been translated into three languages. Stacey received a bachelor's degree in education in 2012 and remains a school teacher by day. She is a book reviewer and content creator on multiple platforms, including Tiktok and Instagram. Stacey first published after book lovers of the internet encouraged her to share her story ideas. She was born and raised on the Gold Coast, Australia, and still resides in her hometown with her husband, two children and one questionable dog. A.K. Friday 11 October Hostile Entertainment Presents  Krave x Veratie | Single Co-Launch Show FRI OCT 11 | The Presynct, Nambour DOORS: 6:30pm   KRAVE  [11pm-11:40pm] Heavy x high energy band, KRAVE, are a fast rising Alt Metal trio from Brisbane known to conquer all stages across Australia with their engaging music, charisma, and striking stage performance. KRAVE forge their alternative sound through an alliance of melody, heavy and raw emotionality covered under the umbrella of metal and modern-rock. The band delivers their sound with such conviction, they are known to consistently house the hearts and minds of many diverse heavy music fans from different backgrounds. Their music unites a crowd and fosters a deep sense of belonging. Discussing raw experiences related to mental and emotional illness, substance abuse, addiction and neurodiversity, KRAVE derives such captivation amongst people looking for shared connection. Members Dan Hass Mitch Storey and Des Goy are from bands including Magot DeathBlunt Objectand Inhailed.   Mezmik [9:15pm-9:50pm] Hailing from the vibrant city of Brisbane, Queensland, Mezmikis a powerhouse in the realm of melodic metal, infusing symphonic elements with a raw, visceral energy. Their music is a tapestry woven with intricate melodies, intricate harmonies, and thundering rhythms that transport listeners into a realm of sonic enchantment. With down-tuned guitars, pulsating intensity, thundering bass and ethereal vocals seamlessly transitioning between angelic and haunting tones, Mezmikweaves tales of darkness and light. Orchestral and synthetic twists elevates Mezmik to new heights, creating an immersive experience that resonates with audiences worldwide.   VERATIE [8:30pm-9pm] VERATIE are an alt-rock / nu-metal band, based in Southeast Queensland.  Formed in 2021 by lead singer-songwriter Sarah and guitarist-beatmaker Connor, VERATIE weaves synth, heavy guitars and relentless rhythm with soaring melodic and rap vocals.VERATIE has a modern sound inspired by artists such as Linkin ParkEvanescenceParamoreMuse and Spirit Box. They have already supported names such as The Halo Effect (Europe), Beyond the Black (Europe), RedhookDevilskin (New Zealand), LagersteinKrave and more. VERATIE have recently recorded their debut, 10 song album with James See at Airlock Studios, Brisbane. This body of work thematically revolves around the intersection of humanity, society, machine and divine, with singles and accompanying music videos set to release from September 2024. Ashes is the first release from this band and it will be launched live at this gig.  VERATIE are a band to watch as they are set to rise in the new generation of alternate artists.   Ruination [7:45pm-8:15pm] Hailing from Maryborough, Queensland is three piece alt-hard-rock outfit Ruination. The trio entwine soft soundscapes with a melodic, rock edge at its core. Drawing influences from a diverse range of acts including BlurToolNirvana and Deftones, there is a unique sound crafted through Ruination's songwriting. Performing shows locally and interstate, Ruination have shared stages with the likes of In EffigyExotic PotionCookiesDeath by Carrot and Day of Content.   Acended [7pm-7:30pm] Acended are a 4 piece punk / grunge band from Coolum Beach, Sunshine Coast. Dull Skull is their first release in the making with vocalist Tony and Izaak on bass. Since then, their journey as a band led them to find their amazing drummer Vann (only 15 years old!), and Zach as their recent lead addition. With this uniting front, Acended is truly ascending onwards and upwards. Bringing a high octane experience and having stage presence like fire in the room you can’t look away from.

  Author BIO's Melissa Ashley Melissa Ashley is the award-winning and best-selling author of the historical fiction novels The Naturalist of Amsterdam (Affirm Press 2023), The Bee and the Orange Tree (2020) and The Birdman’s Wife (2016). Melissa has a PhD and an MPhil in Creative Writing and a first-class honours degree in Literature. The Naturalist of Amsterdam has been shortlisted for the 2024 Queensland Literary Awards. Christine Wells writes historical fiction featuring strong, fascinating women. She began her first novel while working as a corporate lawyer and has gone on to write about periods ranging from Georgian England to post World War II France. Her latest novel is The Paris Gown (Harper Collins 2024). Lisa Brookhouse  Lisa Brookhouse lives on the Sunshine Coast. When she isn't drinking coffee, working in her garden, or happily watching the grass grow, Lisa feeds her mild obsession of Scottish culture and history with assorted literature. Author BIO's

Karen McKinley has worked as a journalist in newspapers and television and been the publicist for various entertainment and corporate sectors over the past 35 years. Her book My Dog Bruiser Swallowed a Scooter (Little Steps 2024) is a fun rhyming book for children aged 2-7 set in the vege patch at the family farm in Maleny. 

Cathrin Blickling is the author of the picture book Taken by the Pirates. She is a writer and director in both theatre and film. Her acting training gave her the solid foundation of teaching acting, which later transferred into developing SEL and communication skills for children and adults. Cathrin has over 15 years of experience working with schools teaching both children inside the classroom but also working with teachers externally.

Lara Cain Gray is the quintessential book nerd, with a background in library and museum curatorship, academic research and corporate and creative writing. The Grown-Up’s Guide To Picture Books (MidnightSun 2024) is a picture-book-for-adults that upskills parents and carers to enjoy deeper reading of picture books with their children.
