Friday 24 May The Remains of Mr Thompson are up and rolling for 2024 and will be bringing their ambitious live set to The Presynct in Nambour, check out their live BDJ session on youtube from late 2023 to get an idea of will be blasting out the speakers. Joining them will be festival heavyweights and Sunshine Coasts favourite earth rock band 'Flaskas' who always get the place jumping. 'Beaudi Dwan', accompanied by his full band and fresh of his debut single 'Frames" streaming 45,000+ streams on spotify alone, will be bringing his unique take on indie acoustic rock and Americana. Finally new local band "The Jandals' will be opening the night with some stomping blues rock. PROJECT24 - Monthly Artist Showing Join us for our monthly Project24 artist in residence showing. Each month we invite you to come and meet the artist, see what they have been up to and connect with other creatives on the coast. Down in Studio3, Diaspora The Explorer , whose brooding ethereal melodies explore the darker side of the human experience, tackling themes of cultural displacement, belonging and adaptation. Through immersive and captivating live performances, DTEs music is a haunting, transcendent and characterised by a palpable intensity that connects. This month they'll be working on 'Psychopomp' (conductor of souls) an experimental project involving intimate collaborations between musicians. It focuses on what's possible in a month-long composition and writing process. Up in the MakerSpace is The Blak Print Club , an initiative of Blak Creatives and Munimba-ja, Blak Print Club is a series of mob only print workshops that will be open to all Blak Creatives, with lead artist, Yuwaalaraay, Gamilaraay, Kooma/Koama woman, Melissa Stannard. 5.30 - Doors Open 5.45 - Showing Begins 7.30 - Networking Project24 is an artist in residence program that provides space for artists to develop, collaborate, experiment and showcase their work at 2ND Space, Nambour. This year we will host 24 x residencies engaging hundreds of artists from across the region and beyond. Come and engage with the artist and find out more about everything they've been working on. Keep an eye out for future announcements about Project 24 artists coming up! 2ND Space is 131 Currie St, Nambour, access if via a laneway between 34 - 36 Howard St, Nambour. Friday 31 May 2024 - Sunday 2 June 2024 Two plays - One night Timely stories of adaption, immigration, adjustment and sometimes isolation. "Krishnan's Dairy", reportedly New Zealand's favourite play, by NZ playwright Jacob Rajan, has toured the globe justly garnering rave reviews. This wonderful show centres on the travails of a migrant couple, Gobi and Zina Krishnan , who emigrated from India to New Zealand to start a family and run a milk bar. Juggling the demands of running a small business in a strange country, and the ordinary stresses of married life, beget endless frustrations - some comic, some not so. Woven through is the story of Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his favourite wife. Evening Opener- "Scraps" - a new gem by local playwright, Joy Hinckley - Two philosophical Brisbane Ibises try to come to terms with history.
