Friday 31 May 2024 – Sunday 2 June 2024
Two plays – One night
Timely stories of adaption, immigration, adjustment and sometimes isolation.
“Krishnan’s Dairy”, reportedly New Zealand’s favourite play, by NZ playwright Jacob Rajan, has toured the globe justly garnering rave reviews.
This wonderful show centres on the travails of a migrant couple, Gobi and Zina Krishnan , who emigrated from India to New Zealand to start a family and run a milk bar. Juggling the demands of running a small business in a strange country, and the ordinary stresses of married life, beget endless frustrations – some comic, some not so. Woven through is the story of Shah Jahan who built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his favourite wife.
Evening Opener-
“Scraps” – a new gem by local playwright, Joy Hinckley – Two philosophical Brisbane Ibises try to come to terms with history. You’ll never look at Bin Chickens ( maybe even history) in quite the same way ever again!
